Cacao Origin | Alta Verapaz, Guatemala
Our cacao is organically and ethically sourced from indigenous Q’eqchi’ Maya communities in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, a region known for cacao with ancient Criollo genetics naturally complemented by subtle Trinitario notes. Cultivated beneath the rainforest canopy in biodiverse agroforestry systems, this cacao reflects generations of traditional agricultural knowledge and deep respect for land and culture.
The beans are sun-dried, hand-sorted, and stone-ground, preserving their depth of flavor, aroma, and ceremonial character from harvest to cup.
Key Ingredient: Chaga Mushroom | Dual Extraction 15:1
Chaga is included in this ceremonial cacao blend as a traditionally valued mushroom, chosen for its deep, earthy character and natural harmony with cacao. It allows the cacao and spices to remain at the forefront while adding depth and balance to the overall profile.
In Divine Strength, we use a concentrated, dual-extracted chaga extract (15:1) from a family-run producer in a national forest in Estonia. This wild-harvested chaga is processed using both water and alcohol extraction to preserve the full character of the mushroom, allowing the extract to integrate smoothly into cacao-based ceremonial preparations.
Traditional Maya Spices
This ceremonial cacao blend is gently warmed with traditional Maya spices, selected for their aromatic qualities and long cultural relationship with cacao. Each element is chosen with care, not to overpower, but to support the overall composition.
Cayenne has long been combined with cacao in Mesoamerican cuisine, adding subtle warmth and depth that enhances the sensory experience without dominating the cacao.
Ceylon cinnamon is valued for its soft, aromatic sweetness and gently warming character, contributing to a smooth, layered spice profile.
Vanilla, native to Mesoamerica, has been paired with cacao since ancient Maya times. Its delicate aroma softens the earthy notes of cacao and spice, bringing harmony and a subtle sweetness to the blend.
Cacao, mushrooms, and spices are carefully composed into a balanced ceremonial blend shaped by tradition and sensory harmony. Each element plays a role in flavor, aroma, and depth, keeping the cacao at the center while creating a soft, earthy, gently warming cup. This considered infusion reflects both ancestral knowledge and contemporary ceremonial craftsmanship, offering a unique expression within the Herbal Cacao collection for ritual use and mindful daily moments.
